Azerbaijan, Türkiye step up talks to ease regional tensions
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation to discuss the escalating security situation in the region.
During the call, the ministers exchanged views on the risks arising from recent events amid ongoing military tensions and their potential impact on regional stability, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
FM Bayramov condemned a missile attack on Turkish territory earlier in the day and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for the brotherly Turkish people.
Both officials stressed that any further military escalation could have serious, unwanted consequences. They explored possible steps to reduce tensions and foster dialogue, while emphasizing that attacks on neighboring countries and actions undermining the territorial integrity of sovereign states are unacceptable.
The strategic alliance and close fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye were highlighted as critical in navigating the current complex geopolitical landscape. Bayramov and Fidan underlined the importance of continued consultations and coordination on regional matters.
The conversation also included exchanges on other issues of mutual interest, reflecting the ongoing commitment of both countries to maintain stability and cooperation in the region.
