Türkiye backs Syrian government’s measures to safeguard unity, integrity

Türkiye will support all steps taken by the Syrian government to protect the country’s unity and territorial integrity, the Ministry of National Defence sources said on August 28.

Ministry sources stressed that Ankara views Syria’s stability as directly tied to its own security and as a factor contributing to broader regional peace, Caliber.Az reports per Turkish media.

They underlined Türkiye’s belief in a centralised governance model that preserves Syria’s sovereignty and prevents separatist elements, while treating all ethnic and sectarian groups with equal distance.

Within this framework, training and consultancy activities to enhance the capacity of the Syrian Armed Forces are continuing under the Joint Training and Consultancy Memorandum of Understanding, signed with Damascus on August 13, 2025. Türkiye is also set to contribute to the establishment of new training centers at Syria’s request.
