Türkiye bans entry for pro-Armenian journalist from Canada
Canadian journalist Neil Hauer announced on his social media page on X (formerly Twitter) that he has been denied entry into Türkiye.
Hauer stated that he arrived at Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen Airport from Yerevan for tourism purposes. However, he was detained at passport control and informed that he was on a "blacklist." After a 16-hour wait, the journalist was deported back to Armenia, Caliber.Az reports.
Hauer expressed surprise at the decision, noting that he had previously visited Türkiye multiple times, most recently in the summer of 2022, without encountering any issues.
Hauer stated that he believes the ban is linked to his so-called "journalistic activities." He noted that he rarely covers topics related to Türkiye, such as the "Kurdish issue" or the "Gülen movement." However, he speculated that the ban might be connected to "his criticism of Azerbaijan and publications about events in Karabakh," where he has actively supported the Armenian side.
Neil Hauer is known for his biased publications regarding the Second Karabakh War. His reports primarily focused on accusations against Azerbaijan, while disregarding the occupation policies of Armenia.
