Türkiye condemns Israel's Gaza operation, citing “expansionist and genocidal policy”

08 August 2025 14:00

Türkiye issued a forceful condemnation of Israel’s decision to intensify its military operations in Gaza, denouncing the move as part of an “expansionist and genocidal policy” and warning of its dire consequences for regional and international stability.

In a sharply worded statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry accused the Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of pursuing a campaign of systematic violence against Palestinians under the guise of military action Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.

"Every step taken by the fundamentalist Netanyahu government to continue the genocide against the Palestinians and to expand the occupation deals a heavy blow to international peace and security, increases regional instability, and deepens the humanitarian crisis," the ministry declared.

The statement framed Israel’s actions as a violation of international norms and emphasized that sustainable peace in the Middle East is only possible through adherence to international law, respect for human rights, and a return to diplomatic dialogue.

The ministry also issued a direct call for Israel to abandon its current military course. "We urge Israel to immediately halt its 'war plans,' accept a ceasefire in Gaza, and resume negotiations toward a two-state solution," the statement said.

Türkiye further criticized what it described as a strategy aimed at depopulating Gaza and uprooting Palestinians from their homeland. It called upon the international community to take immediate action, warning that failure to respond would be tantamount to complicity.

Calling Israel’s move an attempt to render Gaza uninhabitable and forcibly displace Palestinians from their land, the ministry appealed to the international community to fulfill its responsibilities.

In its concluding remarks, the Turkish ministry demanded decisive action from the United Nations, stating, "We call on the UN Security Council to adopt binding resolutions to prevent Israel’s actions that violate international law and humanitarian values."
