Türkiye moves heavy equipment to border with Syria
Türkiye is amassing heavy equipment near the Syrian border.
Armoured vehicles and ammunition have been sent to the Suruç district of Şanlıurfa province, located opposite the Syrian city of Ain al-Arab (Kobani), Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
The report mentions that part of the military convoy passing through the Ali Gök district in Şanlıurfa has reached the Syrian border.
The portal also published footage of the heavy equipment.
Notably, following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, Türkiye has been actively involved in shaping Syria's future. Türkiye's primary objectives include eliminating terrorist organizations, particularly the Kurdish YPG militia, and ensuring Syria's territorial integrity. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has emphasized Türkiye's capability to "crush" all terrorists in Syria and called for foreign powers to "take hands off," underscoring Türkiye's proactive stance in the region.
Türkiye's involvement in Syria has been multifaceted. It has supported opposition groups, hosted millions of Syrian refugees, and coordinated with various factions to counter-terrorism.
