Türkiye offers to host next round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks
Türkiye has reaffirmed its willingness to host a new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan confirmed.
“I reiterate that we are ready to hold the next round of talks as soon as possible. Earlier today, I had a phone conversation with [Russian Foreign Minister Sergey] Lavrov. We discussed the current state of negotiations and Türkiye’s potential contribution. We also covered issues related to Palestine and Lebanon,” Fidan said during a press conference in Ankara, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The Turkish minister emphasized that efforts to foster peace between Russia and Ukraine should not be hindered.
“We hope that diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving this issue will soon lead to a lasting and just peace, under the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter,” he added.
Türkiye has positioned itself as a neutral facilitator in the conflict, signaling its commitment to support dialogue and diplomatic solutions in the region.
