Türkiye’s Gökdoğan missile hits target beyond visual range in successful test VIDEO
Türkiye has achieved a significant milestone in its defence capabilities with the successful test firing of its first national air-to-air missile, Gökdoğan.
The missile hit its aerial target with a direct strike beyond visual range, marking a breakthrough in Türkiye's efforts to develop advanced indigenous defence technologies, according to Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, who shared the news on his official social media page, Caliber.Az reports.

He described the achievement as a major step toward ensuring Türkiye’s complete independence in critical defence technologies.
"The first domestic and national air-to-air missile, Gökdoğan, beyond visual range, hit the target directly during the test firing. Another technological step has been taken for a fully independent Türkiye in critical technologies," Kacır said in his post.
Developed as part of Türkiye's broader effort to strengthen its defence industry, the Gökdoğan missile is a highly manoeuvrable, short-range missile designed for close air combat. The missile, originally designated the Goktug Variant, is equipped with a dual-band infrared homing head (IIR), developed by Turkish defence company Aselsan, and features a thrust vectoring engine. With a range of up to 30 km, the missile represents a significant leap forward in Türkiye's domestic missile development program.
