Türkiye says two citizens wounded in drone attack near Ukrainian Black Sea port
Two Turkish nationals serving as crew members aboard a Panama-flagged dry cargo vessel were injured in a drone strike near Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Chornomorsk on June 22, Türkiye’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
In a statement, the ministry said the condition of the injured sailors is being closely monitored by the Turkish Embassy in Kyiv and the Consulate General in Odesa, Caliber.Az reports.
Ankara expressed concern over attacks affecting civilian maritime activity in the Black Sea, warning that the escalation of the Russia-Ukraine war poses risks to regional security and Turkish interests.
“We have conveyed our concerns to the authorities of both countries regarding these attacks, which threaten our interests and regional security in the Black Sea,” the ministry said.
The ministry emphasised that ensuring the safety of civilian navigation in the Black Sea remains one of Türkiye’s highest priorities and called on all parties involved to take steps to reduce tensions in the region.
