Türkiye seeks US approval to acquire GE Aerospace engines For fighter jet program
Türkiye has officially requested authorization from the United States to purchase aircraft engines produced by GE Aerospace for its advanced fighter jet projects.
The Turkish government aims to acquire GE Aerospace F404 engines for its Hurjet training aircraft program and F110 engines for its next-generation Kaan fighters, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Specific details regarding the value and terms of the supply contracts have not been disclosed.
The Kaan fighter, initially known as TF-X (Turkish Fighter Experimental), has been in development since December 2010 under the National Combat Aircraft (Milli Muharip Ucak, MMU) program.
The initial design and conceptualization contract for the Kaan was awarded in August 2011, with the development agreement following in August 2016.
