Türkiye, Serbia strengthen defence ties with focus on UAV cooperation
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced significant developments in defence cooperation with Serbia during a joint press conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade.
The partnership will notably include collaboration in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Erdogan emphasized the discussions held with Vucic regarding the potential for UAV cooperation, stating, “In the context of agreements in the defence sphere, my dear friend Aleksandar Vucic and I discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of UAVs as well.”
He pointed out that both Ankara and Belgrade possess their own capabilities in this area, and he assured that relevant work would be undertaken by the defence ministers of both nations.
The Turkish leader also hinted at forthcoming actions in the defence sector that may not be well-received by all parties involved, indicating a commitment to advancing their military collaboration despite external opinions.
In response, Vucic reiterated Serbia's intent to deepen ties with Türkiye in the defence industry, announcing the establishment of a working group to enhance cooperation between their military industries.
