Türkiye signals readiness to train Syria’s army using Azerbaijan model
Türkiye is ready to provide support to Syria’s armed forces using the same model it previously applied in Azerbaijan, Turkish Defence Minister Yaşar Güler said.
According to Caliber.Az, citing local media, Güler noted that Türkiye has extensive experience in providing military training to partner countries and is prepared to extend similar assistance to Syria.
The minister recalled that Türkiye had earlier delivered military training and capacity-building support to the armed forces of Azerbaijan, Libya, and Somalia, adding that Ankara intends to apply the same approach in its engagement with Syria.
“Just as we provided training to Azerbaijan, Libya and Somalia, we can also provide it to them. Training programs are ongoing in Türkiye. We believe that we must help Syria in its fight against terrorism, and we continue to act in this direction,” Güler said.
He emphasised that supporting Syria’s efforts against terrorism aligns with Türkiye’s broader regional security objectives and reaffirmed Ankara’s willingness to contribute through training and institutional cooperation.
