Türkiye to acquire C-130J military transport aircraft from United Kingdom

Türkiye has confirmed plans to purchase 12 C-130J Super Hercules military transport aircraft from the United Kingdom, as part of efforts to enhance the operational capabilities of its air force.

Zeki Aktürk, the spokesperson for the Turkish Ministry of National Defence, announced that pre-sale maintenance and modernization procedures for the aircraft have already commenced in the UK, Caliber.Az reports.

“As part of the ongoing efforts to procure 12 C-130J aircraft from the United Kingdom to meet the operational needs of the Turkish Air Force Command, these aircraft have been transferred to the relevant company for maintenance and modernization,” Aktürk stated.

The acquisition of the C-130J aircraft — known for their strategic and tactical airlift capabilities — is expected to significantly strengthen the Turkish Air Force’s ability to conduct long-range transport, humanitarian missions, and rapid deployment operations.
