Türkiye unveils hypersonic TAYFUN Block-4 missile with centimetre precision At IDEF 2025 / photo / video

Türkiye’s defence industry has revealed the latest iteration of its domestically developed ballistic missile, the TAYFUN Block-4, at the IDEF 2025 international defence exhibition in Istanbul.

According to a report by defence news outlet SavunmaSanayiST.com, the advanced missile—developed by Turkish defence firm Roketsan—can maintain hypersonic speeds exceeding Mach 5 throughout its entire flight and strike targets with centimetre-level precision, even under electronic warfare conditions, Caliber.Az reports.

Murat İkinci, CEO of Roketsan, described the missile as a significant leap forward in Türkiye’s missile capabilities. “TAYFUN Block-4 is able to exceed Mach 5 and maintain that speed until impact. From that perspective, it qualifies as a hypersonic ballistic missile,” he said during the unveiling. “The concept emerged as a natural continuation of the TAYFUN missile family, based on our in-house research.”

The original TAYFUN missile is already in serial production and being delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces. İkinci noted that the system represents a broader missile family with multiple variants tailored for different operational tasks, warheads and mission profiles.

He also stressed the strategic importance of precision technology in modern warfare: “It is critical for us to develop systems capable of striking with centimetre accuracy, even in the presence of jamming and electronic countermeasures. This technology enables highly accurate hits regardless of distance.”

While the full specifications of the system remain classified, İkinci confirmed the use of multiple sensors and described the TAYFUN Block-4 as one of Türkiye’s most important missile systems, citing both its precision and firepower.
