Türkiye vows to prevent terrorist groups in Syria from establishing state
Türkiye will not permit the terrorist structures in Syria to evolve into a state Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said.
Addressing the meeting with members of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), Fidan emphasized that Türkiye is not involved in the clashes in Aleppo but is taking necessary security measures to avoid triggering a new wave of migration, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.
Fidan also highlighted the role of the United States in supporting Kurdish militant groups, particularly the YPG and PYD, which Türkiye regards as terrorist organizations.
"The lifelines of terrorist groups in the region are under US control. The US is the 'oxygen mask' of the YPG and PYD. Without US support, they would not have lasted even three days," Fidan asserted. He made it clear that Türkiye will never allow such a terrorist structure to establish a state in Syria.
On the recent developments in northwestern Syria, Fidan reiterated that the Syrian regime must take the necessary steps to enable the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland. "As Türkiye is the most powerful country in its region, we prioritize peace in all steps we take and implement. Our first goal is peace," the foreign minister added.
