Turkmen president calls Georgia leading economic partner
Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has called Georgia his country's leading economic partner following talks with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in Tbilisi.
During the meeting, the two sides signed several bilateral documents and discussed the regional situation, trade and economic cooperation, transport and logistics projects, the development of the Middle Corridor and tourism, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Kobakhidze said Georgia is interested in expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan in all areas.
“Central Asia is a particularly important region for Georgia, while Turkmenistan is regarded as a reliable partner and a friendly country,” he noted.
The Turkmen president also stated that the two countries intend to strengthen political and economic cooperation and expand partnerships in the fields of energy, communications, industry, construction and other sectors.
"Georgia is Turkmenistan's leading economic partner. During this visit, we discussed increasing trade turnover between our countries and further developing economic ties. Turkmenistan values Georgia's constructive position at the international level," Berdimuhamedov remarked.
The Turkmen president is on a state visit to Georgia. On the eve of the talks, he also participated in the Georgian-Turkmen Business Forum.
