Two Tajik citizens injured in drone attack on Russia’s Tatarstan

Two Tajik citizens were injured in a drone attack on the city of Nizhnekamsk in Russia’s Tatarstan region on August 10, according to updated information from Tajik authorities.

Tatarstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Russia’s TASS news agency that one of the injured Tajik nationals is in serious condition, while the other sustained minor injuries. The ministry said officials are continuing to verify information about Tajik citizens affected by the attack.

Earlier, Tajikistan’s Foreign Ministry had reported that there were no casualties among Tajik citizens following the drone strike.

The ministry later confirmed that a 30-year-old Tajik citizen was killed in the attack. His remains are expected to be transported to Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, on August 13 or 14, once the necessary procedures have been completed.

According to Tatarstan authorities, the region came under attack by unmanned aerial vehicles on the morning of August 10. The drones targeted both industrial and civilian facilities.

The attack killed 13 people, including citizens of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, according to the regional authorities. A total of 78 people sought medical assistance, with 25 requiring hospitalisation.
