Two tankers damaged in renewed UAV attack in southern Russia
Two tankers in the Taganrog Bay sustained mechanical damage after being attacked by drones overnight, the governor of Russia’s Rostov region, Yury Slyusar, said, marking a повторный incident in the area within days.
“Last night, during the repelling of an air attack on the Rostov region, more than two dozen UAVs were destroyed. Unfortunately, there were consequences on the ground. In the Taganrog Bay, two tankers were again attacked by UAVs; they sustained mechanical damage. There were no casualties. The crews of the tankers were evacuated. As a result of UAV strikes, fires broke out. On one of the vessels, the fire is still ongoing; on the second, the fire has been completely extinguished. Information is being specified. In the Azov district, as a result of falling UAV debris, reeds caught fire in a quarry far from populated areas. Firefighting specialists are working.
During the repelling of the air attack, UAVs were destroyed in the cities of Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Gukovo, as well as in the Azov, Neklinovsky and Chertkovsky districts,” Slyusar wrote.
The latest incident follows a similar reported attack on two tankers in the Taganrog Bay a day earlier.
