UAE, Russia step up cooperation to address Middle East crisis

Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) intend to closely coordinate efforts to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Middle East crisis, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced following a phone call between Foreign Ministers Sergey Lavrov and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“The sides confirmed their mutual commitment to maintaining close foreign policy coordination between Moscow and Abu Dhabi in order to facilitate a peaceful settlement of the crisis in the Middle East,” the ministry’s statement read.

It added that joint efforts will be carried out on the basis of international law, taking into account the legitimate interests of states in the region.
