Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have prevented the illegal sale of one of the largest batches of “trophy” weapons captured from the front line, officials said.
The operation, carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the National Police, led to the detention of six individuals, including the organiser and his accomplices, in the Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, Caliber.Az reports via SBU.
Authorities seized a significant arsenal, including 75 small arms—among them Kalashnikov assault rifles—38 combat grenades, 2 grenade launchers, over 20 detonators, and approximately 13,000 rounds of ammunition. Investigators said the weapons had been refurbished in underground workshops before being offered for sale to local criminal groups.
The suspects have been charged under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers the illegal handling of weapons and ammunition, and could face up to seven years in prison.
