Ukraine reports 150,000-plus Russian vehicle and fuel tanker losses
Ukraine’s Defence Forces have destroyed more than 150,000 vehicles and fuel tankers belonging to Russian forces since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine’s General Staff said on Thursday, September 17.
The General Staff said the destruction of Russian transport and fuel equipment has a direct impact on the country’s military logistics, particularly the supply of ammunition, fuel and other essential provisions to its forces.
The equipment includes trucks and fuel tankers used to transport supplies to Russian military units.
For comparison, the General Staff cited losses suffered by the Soviet military during its 10-year war in Afghanistan. According to the figures it provided, Soviet forces permanently lost about 13,000 vehicles during that conflict.
“Every truck disposed of, every fuel tanker destroyed means a disrupted delivery of ammunition, immobilised armoured vehicles and derailed offensive plans of the occupying forces,” the General Staff said.
The Ukrainian military also reported that its forces struck 952 Russian tanks and armoured combat vehicles during the three summer months of 2026.
The figures come as Ukraine continues to report significant Russian losses on the battlefield. Over the previous 24 hours, the Defence Forces destroyed 1,960 Russian personnel, dozens of artillery systems and armoured vehicles, as well as more than 1,400 drones, according to the General Staff.
