Ukraine's army chief: Kyiv, London explore deep strikes into Russia
Oleksandr Syrskyy, the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine revealed that during a conversation with Anthony Radakin, the UK's chief of defence staff, they discussed London’s plans to formulate proposals for strikes using Western weaponry deep within Russian territory.
Syrskyy shared this information via his Telegram channel, Caliber.Az reports.
“Separately, we discussed the possibility of targeting the enemy's military facilities in operational and strategic depth. Currently, the British side is developing its proposals as part of the practical implementation of the victory plan,” Syrskyy wrote.
He emphasized that he updated his British counterpart on the situation along the line of contact and expressed gratitude for the UK’s “steadfast and unwavering support for Ukraine.”
The commander-in-chief also urged Britain to recognize the violations of international humanitarian law and war crimes committed by Russian forces, including strikes on Ukraine's critical infrastructure and indiscriminate bombardments of civilian areas.
According to Syrskyy, the key areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Britain remain the provision of military equipment and weapons, personnel training, and enhancing the effectiveness of high-tech weaponry.
On the previous day, Mykhaylo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Ukrainian president's office, indicated in an interview with the German newspaper that Ukraine must shift combat operations onto Russian territory.
He discussed a hypothetical scenario involving a large-scale offensive not only in border regions like Kursk but also deep into Russia. Podolyak mentioned that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “victory plan” aims for the “military coercion” of Russia to achieve peace. On October 14, Oleksiy Makeyev, Ukraine's ambassador to Germany, stated that Zelenskyy would present his “victory plan” in the coming days.
