Ukraine’s NSDC chief heads to Paris to brief Zelenskyy on Florida talks
Rustem Umerov, head of the Ukrainian delegation and Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, is flying from the US to Paris to personally brief President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on recent Miami talks with US officials regarding a potential peace agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war.
Umerov will arrive in Paris on December 1, coinciding with Zelenskyy’s working visit, and provide a detailed report on discussions held with former U.S. President Donald Trump’s team in Florida, Axios cites Ukrainian officials.
Meanwhile, leading US negotiators are scheduled to travel to Moscow on the same day to continue consultations on the potential agreement.
A Ukrainian source said the “key question remains what the Russians think and how serious their intentions are,” adding that clarity is expected after Special Envoy Steve Witkoff returns from Moscow.
The talks between the Ukrainian delegation and Trump’s team took place in Miami, Florida, on the evening of November 30 and lasted nearly five hours. American media have gradually revealed details of the meeting and the topics discussed. After receiving an initial report, Zelenskyy said the talks were “constructive,” while Donald Trump again spoke of a “chance for an agreement.”
