Ukraine strikes Russian missile ship in Azov sea VIDEO
The Ukrainian military has damaged a Russian warship in the Azov Sea, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR) reported on August 28.
According to HUR, the target was a Buyan-M class small missile ship, part of Russia’s Project 21631 fleet and a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles. The operation took place near Russian-occupied Crimea, Caliber.Az writes via Ukrainian media.
Intelligence officers said fighters from HUR’s “Ghosts” special unit used an aerial drone to disable the ship’s radar system, before special forces launched an attack on the vessel’s side.
The ship, which was stationed in the Temryuk Gulf and considered capable of launching Kalibr missiles from the area, sustained damage and was forced to withdraw from combat duty, the agency added.
The Buyan-M class missile ships are designed for operations in coastal waters and enclosed seas, such as the Azov and Caspian.
