Ukraine to extend martial law, mobilisation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted two bills to the Verkhovna Rada seeking to extend martial law and general mobilisation as Russia’s full-scale invasion continues into its fourth year.
According to the parliament’s official website, the draft laws — No. 14128 and No. 14129 — were registered on October 20. They concern the approval of presidential decrees on prolonging martial law in Ukraine and the period of general mobilisation, Caliber.Az reports per Ukrainian media.
Under the current legislation, both measures remain in force until November 5. Once approved, they will be extended for another 90 days, until early February 2026.
This will mark the 17th time Ukraine’s parliament has extended martial law and mobilisation since they were first introduced in February 2022, following Russia’s invasion.
MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak said the Verkhovna Rada is expected to vote on the extensions on October 21.
