Ukrainian armed forces launch drone strikes on Russia’s Orel region
The Russian city of Orel was hit by a series of powerful explosions early on the morning of November 13 in what local authorities and residents described as a large-scale attack by Ukrainian forces.
Residents heard loud blasts and saw flashes of light in the sky around 6:20 a.m. local time. According to eyewitnesses quoted by Russian media outlet SHOT, more than ten explosions were heard across the city, causing windows to rattle and air raid sirens to sound in several neighbourhoods, Caliber.Az reports.
Russia’s air defenсe systems were activated during the assault, with officials saying several aerial targets were intercepted and destroyed. However, falling debris struck residential areas, damaging cars in a parking lot and shattering windows in nearby apartment buildings and private homes.
Local authorities said there were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
Earlier in the morning, regional authorities had issued a missile alert, urging residents to take shelter and stay away from windows.
