Ukrainian drone attacks hit western Russia: One dead, several injured

07 February 2026 12:02

Russian regional authorities say Ukrainian drone strikes hit civilian areas in the Belgorod and Kursk regions near the border, injuring several people, killing one man, and damaging homes and vehicles.

A civilian was injured in Russia’s Belgorod region after a Ukrainian drone struck a moving passenger car in the village of Pogromets, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, Caliber.Az reports.

He said the driver was wounded in the attack and later sought medical help on his own at the Volokonovsky Central District Hospital. After receiving first aid, the man was transferred to a hospital in the nearby town of Valuy, where doctors diagnosed him with a mine-blast injury and a shoulder contusion.

Gladkov said the victim received necessary treatment and will continue his recovery as an outpatient, adding that the vehicle was damaged in the strike.

In a separate incident in the neighbouring Kursk region, regional head Alexander Khinshtein reported that a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle attack hit the village of Verkhniy Lyubazh in the Fatezh district. He said the strike caused fires in two barns and a bathhouse, while shrapnel damaged a residential house and a garage.

According to Khinshtein, one person was killed and three others were injured in the attack. The deceased was a 27-year-old man who had been inside the garage at the time. The injured—a 39-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman, and a 13-year-old girl—were taken to hospital with shrapnel wounds, and the two adults were also diagnosed with concussions.
