Ukrainian First Lady: Every day two children die in country

Every day, two children die as a result of Russian military aggression in Ukraine.

First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska has said this during an online speech at an event marking the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Aspen Institute Central Europe, Ukrinform reports.

“Many people for these almost four months, as long as the Russian aggression has been going on, say that it is difficult for them to even read the news about Ukraine. I understand them very much. It's hard for every normal person with empathy to find out daily how rockets flew into someone's house, right into the room, and killed a family there. It is difficult to read about the killed column with the inscription "Children". It is unbelievable to realize that two children die every day in Ukraine. It is difficult to look at photos of defaced cities, at abysses instead of windows, at people in hospitals injured from mine-explosive wounds,” Zelenska said.

She noted that in such a catastrophic situation, Ukraine is supported by values. The First Lady noted that Ukrainians now stand not only for their own home but for values that are understandable to every person, first of all, life and freedom. The wife of the President of Ukraine stressed that love for the close ones, as well as confidence in European and world friends and allies, help to survive.

The First Lady urged the Aspen Institute graduates to use their leadership to ensure that Ukraine continues to have allies so that the truth about the cruelty and cynicism of the Russian Federation is constantly heard on the world stage.

As reported, as a result of the war in Ukraine, 323 children were killed, and more than 583 were injured.
