Ukrainian presidential office announces incoming Patriot systems
Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian presidential office, revealed that Ukraine would soon receive Patriot air defence systems.
Sharing the news via his Telegram channel, Yermak noted, "Patriot will be bigger," though he did not provide further specifics on the deployment or additional details, according to Caliber.Az.
This announcement aligns with Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to bolster its air defences amid the ongoing conflict. Ukrainian officials have consistently appealed to Western allies for advanced air defence systems, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighting the urgency of the situation. In early April, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of acquiring "25 Patriot systems" for Ukraine's security.
Further elaborating on the progress, Zelenskyy mentioned on 8 June that Kyiv had secured agreements with Western nations for the provision of additional air defence systems. He clarified that while some of these agreements would be implemented promptly, others would be executed later in the year, likely around autumn.
In a related development, Yermak confirmed on 21 July that a Patriot system from Germany had already arrived in Ukraine. This marks a significant step in strengthening Ukraine's air defence capabilities as the country continues to face challenges in the region.
