Ukrainian special forces strike Russian missile ship en route to Caspian Sea
Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SDF) have disclosed details of an operation targeting the Russian small missile ship Grad in Karelia.
According to Ukrainian media, the SDF press service reported that the operation occurred at 04:31 on October 4 in Lake Onega. The special forces struck the Project 21631 small missile ship Buyan-M (borne number 575) as it was travelling from the Baltic Sea toward the Caspian Sea.
The attack hit the right side of the propulsion system compartment, inflicting serious damage to the vessel. Further information regarding the incident is still being finalised.
"The Grad is one of Russia's newest ships. It was commissioned into the Baltic Fleet on December 29, 2022. The main armament of the ship is the Kalibr-NK missile system, which is used for strikes against Ukraine," the SDF noted.
