UN calls for urgent ceasefire in Gaza: 115 Palestinians dead in 48 hours
The Health Ministry in Gaza reports that, in the latest 48-hour period, 115 Palestinians have lost their lives and 487 others have sustained injuries.
Israeli airstrike near Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut has resulted in the deaths of 13 individuals, including a child, and has left 57 others wounded, as confirmed by Lebanon's Health Ministry, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
According to the Government Media Office in Gaza, Israeli forces have blocked the entry of over 250,000 trucks carrying essential supplies and goods since the onset of hostilities in the region.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), has made an urgent appeal for a ceasefire in northern Gaza to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians caught in the crossfire.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for targeting Israeli positions in the suburbs of Tel Aviv, including an intelligence base, and has also launched rockets at a naval base in Haifa, northern Israel.
Notably, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, since the escalation of violence on October 7, 2023, at least 42,718 people in Gaza have been killed, with 100,282 reported injuries due to Israeli attacks.
Additionally, approximately 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the initial Hamas-led assaults, with more than 200 individuals taken captive.
