UN picks Turkish jamming tech to strengthen peacekeeping operations
Radio-frequency (RF) jammers manufactured by Turkish defence company ASER Teknoloji will be installed on armored vehicles deployed in United Nations missions across Africa, the company announced after winning an international procurement tender.
ASER Teknoloji, known for its work in satellite communications and radar technologies, secured the contract to supply its electronic warfare devices to UN peacekeeping units, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
ASER Teknoloji CEO Ertan Murat said the company’s portfolio includes tactical electronic warfare systems designed to counter remotely operated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and drones — both of which pose significant threats in conflict zones where UN missions operate.
He noted that the company has elevated its innovative and highly effective RF-jamming technologies “to the highest international level.”
“We have been cooperating with the Turkish Armed Forces for more than 20 years on projects to develop radio-frequency jammers. We have created new jamming technologies that meet the conditions and needs of real combat environments,” Murat said.
He added that ASER Teknoloji’s latest systems enable the creation of interference across a much broader spectrum “including 4.5G and 5G systems, drones, and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) frequency ranges.”
The deployment of these jamming devices is expected to enhance the protection of UN personnel and armored units operating in high-risk areas on the African continent.
