US aims to foster conditions for Armenia's shift away from Russia Assistant Secretary of State says
The United States is actively working to create conditions for Armenia to move away from its historically strong ties with Russia, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien told a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing.
O'Brien praised the efforts by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in taking steps towards reducing the country's dependence on Russia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

He highlighted the growing sentiment within Armenia favoring a shift in foreign relations.
"The majority of the Armenian population wants to move away from Russia. Therefore, we (the American authorities - Ed.) are creating conditions for this to happen," O'Brien underlined.
