US ambassador: Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Armenia now on alignment
The U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye, Tom Barrack, has stated that Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Armenia are on the path toward rapprochement, and movement northward could become “incredible.”
Barrack made the remarks during the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), or IISS Manama Dialogue 2025, forum in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, Caliber.Az reports.
"Türkiye, Armenia, Azerbajan are now on alignment, and going north could be incredible," Barrack said.
Barrack emphasised that President Trump’s efforts to achieve peace in the region have led to a “alignment” from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean.
“This president [Trump] has changed the entire chessboard. It’s happening everywhere. Türkiye and Israel will not be at war with each other. In my opinion, it is not going to happen. And you are going to get alignment from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean,” Barrack said.
According to him, in the emerging new order, the United States and Türkiye play a key role, leading the process of rapprochement and strengthening cooperation among the countries of the region.
The diplomat also said that without Türkiye's help, the ceasefire in Gaza would not have been achieved: "The ceasefire in Gaza would not have happened without Türkiye. President Trump acknowledged President Erdogan on the stage four times."
"President Erdogan, in the last minute, there were two holdouts, Sheikh Muhammad and Qatar had done an amazing job. Everybody had pushed as hard as they could. It was actually Türkiye's relationship with Hamas, not declaring them a foreign terrorist organisation that allowed him to push the last two over the hump to get to a ceasefire," Barrack added.
