US President Biden promises assistance to Türkiye
President Biden said he directed his team to provide “any and all needed assistance” as Türkiye grapples with the fallout from the earthquakes that rocked the country.
“I am deeply saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria. I have directed my team to continue to closely monitor the situation in coordination with Turkiye and provide any and all needed assistance,” he wrote on Twitter on February 6, using the country's traditional name, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Jake Sullivan, Mr. Biden’s national secretary adviser, said in a statement that the president had directed the US Agency for International Development and other government agencies to “assess US response options to help those most affected.”
