US shoots down Houthi drone over Red Sea
27 May 2024 12:10
The US military has destroyed an uncrewed aerial system (UAS) launched by the Houthis over the Red Sea.
“At approximately 10 a.m. (Sanaa time) on May 26, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed one uncrewed aerial system (UAS) over the Red Sea, launched from an Iranian-backed Houthi controlled area of Yemen,” Caliber.Az reports, citing the X post of the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM).
“It was determined the UAS presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels in the region. These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels,” the post says.
