US strike in Iran hits transport corridor linking Russia, China

A US strike overnight targeted a bridge in Iran that forms part of a transport corridor connecting the country with Russia and China, Iran's Fars news agency reports.

The report said the Ak-Teke-Khan railway bridge located in Aqqala County in Iran's Golestan Province came under attack.

Fars described the bridge as a key element of the transport route linking China, Turkmenistan and Iran.

Russia has been using the route to transit goods since November last year, while traffic on Chinese freight trains along the corridor has tripled following the maritime blockade.
