US to donate Javelin and Stinger systems to Taiwan

The United States plans to urgently deliver Stinger man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) to Taiwan as part of a grant aid package.

This was reported by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper, citing an informed source.

According to the newspaper, the Pentagon will also hand over Javelin and TOW 2B Aero anti-tank missile systems to the island. According to the SCMP interlocutor, such weapons will enable Taiwan to strengthen its "asymmetric capabilities against communist forces". Delivery dates will be announced by Washington at a later date.
