Russia’s nighttime strikes set Ukraine's Cabinet building ablaze, Zelenskyy says PHOTO
A fire broke out at Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv following a nighttime attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Telegram.
“[In Kyiv] the Cabinet building was damaged, and a fire started on the upper floors,” the post read, per Caliber.Az.
Zelenskyy said the strikes on Ukraine demonstrate Moscow’s unwillingness to pursue a peaceful resolution to the conflict and called on the U.S. and Europe to impose new anti-Russian sanctions.
The Russian attacks involved a record 810 unmanned aerial vehicles, predominantly Shahed strike drones, accompanied by missile strikes, according to the Ukrainian Air Forces. In total, 823 aerial attack targets were detected by the Air Force’s radio-technical troops. The drones were launched from locations in Russia—including Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk—and from Gvardeyskoye and Chauda in Crimea.
In addition, nine Iskander-K cruise missiles were fired from the Kursk region, while four ballistic missiles (Iskander-M/KN-23) were launched from Crimea.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko announced that the attacks on Kyiv left more than 20 people injured and two died—a woman and her two-month-old child.
