Uzbekistan unveils plans for regional nuclear training centre
Uzbekistan will establish a Regional Centre for Knowledge and Skills in Atomic Energy at the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, under a government resolution published on the national legislation database Lex.uz.
According to the resolution, the centre will operate as a separate structural unit within the university's Tashkent branch.
"Establish a Regional Centre for Knowledge and Skills in Atomic Energy as a separate structural unit within the Tashkent branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI," the document states.
The centre will utilize the branch's existing infrastructure and serve as a scientific and practical platform for specialists from across Central Asia.
Its primary objectives include developing training modules that meet international standards for the design, construction, and safe operation of nuclear energy facilities, as well as organizing hands-on training programs for specialists from Central Asian countries.
The facility will also provide simulator-based instruction replicating the operation of reactor and turbine units at nuclear power plants.
In addition, the centre will offer consulting services to Central Asian states on developing national nuclear infrastructure and promoting a culture of nuclear safety in accordance with the recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
The centre is expected to be fully staffed with qualified personnel within the next three months.
