White House describes Berlin talks between Kyiv, Washington as productive
The meeting between advisors to US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on December 15 was “productive,” a US official told Axios journalist Barak Ravid.
The discussions marked the conclusion of the second round of talks in Berlin involving Zelenskyy and US representatives.
December 15 session focused on ongoing diplomatic and strategic issues between the United States and Ukraine, with sources indicating that both sides found the dialogue constructive. “Monday's meeting between Trump's advisers and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy was productive, a US official told me,” Ravid noted.
According to media reports, American negotiators continue to press Ukraine on ceding control of the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions as a precondition for broader peace talks with Russia. While no formal agreement emerged from the Berlin meeting, the White House and US officials have emphasized the importance of maintaining open channels for dialogue.
