World Bank, Azerbaijan working on new cooperation strategy
At the moment, a new strategy for cooperation between the World Bank and the government of Azerbaijan is being developed, which will cover the next 5 years, according to the World Bank (WB) representative in Azerbaijan, Sarah Michael.
“We are now at the beginning of developing our new 5-year program together with the government of Azerbaijan. The previous program is just ending, and now we are discussing with the government what will happen in the next one,” she said, Report informs.
According to her, the WB is currently investing in 3 projects implemented jointly with the government of Azerbaijan.
“One project is aimed at ensuring regional ties, one is at supporting employment in Azerbaijan, and the last is at organizing judicial services,” Michael explained.
Michael noted that the volume of investments in all three projects is $215 million.
“All of these projects are underway, with completion expected in 2024 and beyond,” she added.
According to Michael, in addition to investments, the WB provides technical assistance to Azerbaijan and works together on capacity building, etc.
We also work in the field of supporting education, the digital sector, energy, and renewable sources,” she noted.
