WUF13: African ministerial meeting begins in Baku
A regional ministerial meeting of African countries has begun in Baku as part of the third day of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13).
The meeting aims to move African countries from broad policy declarations toward concrete actions and practical implementation.
According to organisers, cited by local media, participants intend to adopt a Ministerial Action Plan that will outline specific commitments, designate responsible parties, and set timelines across five priority areas identified in the Nairobi Declaration.
In addition to the action plan, ministers are expected to coordinate a unified African position ahead of the high-level review of the New Urban Agenda, which will take place at the United Nations General Assembly in July 2026.
This common position is set to include concrete proposals addressing key issues such as housing, climate, governance, and financing.
The meeting forms part of broader efforts within WUF13 to strengthen international cooperation and accelerate sustainable urban development.
