Azerbaijan, TRACECA discuss expanding regional transport links
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Jasurbek Choriev, Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission, to discuss regional transport connectivity and the future development of the Europe-Asia transit route.
The meeting covered the current state and prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and TRACECA, as well as efforts to expand transport and communications links across the region, Caliber.Az reports per Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.
Bayramov said Azerbaijan attaches particular importance to cooperation within TRACECA and plays an active role in developing transport links between Europe and Asia.
He highlighted Azerbaijan’s geographic position, modern transport infrastructure and transit capacity as key factors contributing to the development of regional connectivity.
The minister also briefed Choriev on projects carried out with Azerbaijan’s support and initiative to develop transport infrastructure and expand the capacity of the Baku International Trade Port, as well as rail and road networks.
Bayramov stressed the importance of further increasing the capacity of the Middle Corridor, boosting freight volumes, simplifying and digitising transit procedures, and improving coordination among countries participating in the route.
The two sides also exchanged views on opportunities to further develop regional transport links and other issues of mutual interest.
