Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan sign roadmap to expand energy cooperation PHOTO

17 September 2026 18:29

Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have signed a roadmap to expand cooperation in the energy sector for 2026–2028.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy said the document was signed following a meeting between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and his Uzbek counterpart Sherzod Khodjaev, who is visiting Baku, Caliber.Az reports.

The roadmap covers the implementation of the Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor project, cooperation in oil and gas exploration and production, crude oil and petroleum product supplies, joint projects in the processing sector, and the expansion of SOCAR’s activities in Uzbekistan.

It also provides for greater exchange of experience and expertise in energy efficiency and thermal energy.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed cooperation in the oil and gas and electricity sectors, renewable energy, energy efficiency and regulation, as well as mutual investments and other areas.

The strategic importance of the Central Asia–Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor was also highlighted. The ministry said Azerbaijan’s developing energy links toward the Black Sea and Türkiye for transmitting green electricity to Europe could facilitate the creation of a broader green energy route connecting Central Asia with Europe.
