Yerevan sees faster progress in Armenia–Azerbaijan settlement process
Head of the Armenian Prime Minister’s Office Araik Harutyunyan said that the settlement process between Armenia and Azerbaijan is progressing at a fairly rapid pace, while calm has been maintained along the border for an extended period.
According to Caliber.Az, Harutyunyan made the remarks in an interview with Armenpress.
He noted that since August 2025, there have been no gunshots heard along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and there have been no casualties for almost two years.
Harutyunyan said the border has been partially opened for cargo transportation. Economic routes are gradually being unblocked, infrastructure is developing, and goods from various countries are already reaching Armenia via shorter routes through the territory of Azerbaijan. He expressed confidence that the reverse flow of goods will also increase in the near future.
The official also pointed to growing contacts between the two sides, noting that representatives of civil society have been conducting mutual visits, while the leadership of Armenia and Azerbaijan continues to maintain an intensive dialogue.
At the same time, Harutyunyan stressed that much work still lies ahead, particularly in changing public attitudes in both countries, as the issue of bilateral relations remains sensitive for both Armenian and Azerbaijani societies.
