Zelenskyy demands European action after overnight Russian attacks
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Europe to take decisive action after Russia launched a major overnight assault on Ukraine.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces fired around 36 missiles and deployed nearly 600 drones, targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities, Caliber.Az reports, citing Ukrainian media.
The attacks caused widespread damage, with multiple fires reported in residential areas. At least three people were killed, and dozens more were injured.
“In Kyiv and the surrounding region, our emergency services are responding to the Russian strikes,” Zelenskyy said.
“Around 36 missiles and nearly 600 drones were used against ordinary life.”
The Ukrainian president stressed the need to secure sufficient missile defence systems to protect the country and maintain pressure on Moscow.
“Europe must decide on the frozen Russian assets if Moscow refuses to halt drone and missile attacks. It is essential to discuss with all partners the steps needed to bring this war to an end,” he added.
