Zelenskyy says around 20 Russian drones may have entered Polish airspace
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that around two dozen Russian drones may have crossed into Polish airspace overnight during Moscow’s latest strike campaign.
Zelenskyy noted that all details of the incident were still being verified, Caliber.Az reports, citing a post on Telegram following a briefing from Ukraine’s Air Force commander,
He stressed that Ukrainian forces had alerted Poland through established channels as early as last night about the movement of Russian drones.
According to the president, the first recorded breach of the Ukrainian–Polish border by a Russian drone occurred at approximately 00:50 Kyiv time.
At least two of the drones that entered Poland’s territory overnight used Belarusian airspace, Zelenskyy said. In total, he added, several dozen Russian drones had operated along the Ukrainian–Belarusian border and across western Ukraine, heading towards targets in both Ukraine and Poland.
“The number of Russian drones that crossed into Poland and penetrated deeper into its territory may exceed the preliminary figures. According to updated data, around two dozen Russian drones may have entered Polish airspace overnight. We are verifying this,” Zelenskyy wrote.
He further emphasised that Ukraine stood ready to expand cooperation with its partners to strengthen air defences.
“It is important that not only information-sharing and intelligence exchanges take place, but that real joint actions in the skies ensure the security of our neighbours,” he said.
