Zelenskyy says Ukraine seeks dignified peace as talks continue in US
On December 5, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian representatives will continue talks in the US with the team of President Donald Trump as Kyiv seeks clarity on Moscow’s position and continues efforts to secure a lasting and dignified peace.
“Today, Ukrainian representatives will continue their discussions in the United States with President Trump’s team,” Zelenskyy said on Telegram.
He added that Ukraine’s immediate task is to obtain full information on Russia’s latest communications and intentions. “Our task now is to obtain full information about what was said in Russia and what other pretexts Putin has come up with to drag out the war and to pressure Ukraine – to pressure us, our independence,” he said.
Zelenskyy stressed that Kyiv is prepared for all possible scenarios and remains committed to working constructively with its international partners.
“Ukraine is prepared for any possible developments, and of course we will work as constructively as possible with all our partners to ensure that peace is achieved – and that it is, after all, a dignified peace,” he said.
He underlined that real security can only be guaranteed through a just and respectable settlement, adding that such an outcome will continue to depend on international support.
“Only a dignified peace provides real security, and we fully understand that this requires – and will continue to require – the support of our partners,” Zelenskyy said.
