Zelenskyy signs decree withdrawing Ukraine from CIS border protection pact

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a decree formally withdrawing Ukraine from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) agreement on the protection of state borders and maritime economic zones.
The document, published on the Ukrainian president’s official website, refers to the agreement signed in Kyiv on March 20, 1992, Caliber.Az reports.
“To withdraw from the agreement on the protection of state borders and maritime economic zones of the CIS member states,” the decree stated.
Zelenskyy also instructed relevant authorities to notify the depositary of the agreement of Ukraine’s decision.
