Ukraine gives US names of prisoners for swap with Russia, says Zelenskyy
The United States remains engaged in diplomacy and continues mediating efforts on prisoner exchanges between Ukraine and Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian leader announced this in a post on his Telegram channel after National Security and Defence Council Secretary Rustem Umerov briefed him on talks with US presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
He stressed that contacts aimed at coordinating the framework of the exchange process are continuing at the necessary level.
“The lists have been handed over, and we expect the American side to play an active role in ensuring the implementation of this agreement. Possible formats for meetings and negotiations at the leadership level to end Russia’s war were also discussed in the United States,” Zelenskyy wrote.
The Ukrainian leader added that Umerov had also provided detailed information about negotiations with interested countries regarding drone agreements.
“Nearly 20 countries are currently involved at various stages: four agreements have already been signed, and the first contracts are being prepared within those agreements. Preparatory procedures are continuing with other countries for political arrangements that will open the way for business cooperation,” he added.
